Upload your website to STRATO

Berlin-based STRATO offers hosting plans with PHP, MySQL and SSL. You upload files via SFTP.

New to this? Read the basics first – they explain domain, hosting and the structure of your ZIP.

  1. Book a plan

Book a hosting plan (not the “website builder”) incl. domain at strato.com.

  2. Log in

Log in to the STRATO customer login and choose your hosting plan.

  3. SFTP access

Under “Hosting” or “Security/Access” you find the main user and set an SFTP password. Server is usually ssh.strato.de, port 22.

  4. Connect with FileZilla

Connect via SFTP (choose protocol “SFTP” in FileZilla).

  5. Upload

Create a folder in the root directory, e.g. “website”, and upload the contents of the “website” folder from the ZIP.

  6. Connect the domain

In domain management, set the destination/directory of your domain to exactly this folder.

  7. Enable SSL

Activate the included SSL certificate and the https redirect.

Tips

  • Make sure no site builder is active on the domain – otherwise it will cover your upload.

Hosts occasionally rename menu items. If you can’t find something, use the search in your customer area or contact your provider’s support.
